Living in the neighborhoods of Carefree offers a lifestyle not found in the big city. However, the proximity to the city allows residents to enjoy the best of both worlds. There is fast access to work, shopping, dining, and entertainment. However, when returning home, residents are greeted by peace, tranquility, and natural views not afforded in the city. 
 
Larger lots and sprawling single-story houses are the norms in Carefree's more remote and natural areas. Unlike the very regimented homeowners’ associations and small lots found in the city, Carefree residents enjoy lots ranging from one to over five acres and the freedom to use the land as they choose. Many have extensive outdoor living features, cabanas, casitas, massive swimming pools, and tennis courts. 
 
The houses in the area range from a nice starter home at 1,600 square feet to massive executive estates exceeding 8,000 square feet. This enormous variation in size means buyers will find houses with two to seven bedrooms and just as many bathrooms. Other features expected in the community are chef-quality kitchens, home offices, home gyms, and theater rooms. 
 
Pricing in the high-demand zip code of 85377 and Cave Creek Unified School District also varies greatly depending on the type and size of the property. Smaller homes on less land can be found for under $500k or less if the buyer is willing to take on some upgrades and renovation projects. At the high end of the spectrum, the numbers can reach eight or more bedrooms and just as many bathrooms. Prices for these estates will reach well into the multimillion range.
